Professional wrestling saw its biggest boom period in the late 1990s, but the events that led to it may not have ever happened if it weren't for the unscripted actions of four of its biggest stars in 1996. With Kevin Nash and Scott Hall leaving for the rival WCW, they (along with their friends Shawn Michaels and Triple H) committed the cardinal sin of breaking character in front of a sold-out crowd at the World Wrestling Federation's sacred ground of Madison Square Garden.

The repercussions of that event were far-reaching, and the landscape of the industry would be drastically different if not for the actions of these four men. Everything from the rise of Stone Cold Steve Austin, the genesis of D-Generation X, and even WWF's eventual purchase of WCW may not have happened if it weren't for the infamous Curtain Call on May 19, 1996.

Using interviews from the men involved in the notorious incident, this book explores the events leading up to the Curtain Call, the incident itself, and its significant and industry-changing aftermath.

Curtain Call How An Unscripted Goodbye Changed The Course Of Pro Wrestling eBook Dan Ryckert Reviews

A good little read from Mr. Ryckert. I would recommend this to those who are unfamiliar with the history of The Kliq. The facts are well represented; just don't expect new ground to be broken.
Although it's a little brief, Ryckerts telling of the Curtain Call at Madison Square Garden is still an interest look into the inter-workings of the wrestling business.

A few minor complaints don't mar the enjoyment of this book. I'd recommend it to any wrestling fan, no matter how "smart" you are.
An interesting information
I wish it was longer! Great read into a very momentous event in Wrestling history. We are using this lovely piece in our first wrestling book club!
Was disappointed with the book. I don't know if it was something with the copy I had, but several sections were edited out. I didn't have the last 4 pages and probably two pages more over all. I did enjoy reading what I had and luckily new the story, I could fill in most of the information that was missing.
If you've read any sort of history of the WWF you've heard t his story. You've also heard the quote-unquote change of course of wrestling- Stone Cold gets the win at KOTR 96. It doesn't do any sort of analysis/thought/etc beyond that single change. No thought about what would've happened if HHH gets the win at KOTR. Do yourself a favor and save yourself the money
This book reads like a well-written term paper; which sounds far worse than I intend it. The book is short (under 30 pages), so there are more details and analysis that could have been expanded upon, but what is here is a decent account detailing the chronology of the central thesis. The author does a good job in using the interviews given by the participants, but more discussion about the resulting events would have been welcomed, and also a deeper examination of what if this event had not happened.
A must for any Wrestling fan! So much was wrong during the WWE vs WCW war, this books gives you much detailed recounts of that time.
